2024 Long Course Age Group Nationals

Fiji Swimming hosted the 2024 Long Course Age Group Nationals yesterday at the Damodar Aquatic venue, revealing impressive results and highlighting the exceptional talents of swimmers hailing from seven diverse clubs across Fiji (Dolphins , Seals , Barracudas , Mako, Great White Sharks, Tritons ,Orca Swim Club).

There are 178 swimmers competing in 42 events in the respective age groups 10 and under , 11-12,13-14, 15-16 and 17&0ver with 946 entries.

A total of 5 national records were established. Congratulations to the following swimmers:

  • Kelera Mudunasoko; 15-16 100m Breaststroke.
  • Thaddeus Kwong; 13-14 50m Back and100m Back.
  • Hansel McCaig; Open and National record in the 50 Back.

Despite the rain, participants’ enthusiasm remained unshaken as club members’ cheers persisted, accompanied by vibrant dancing and music filling the atmosphere. Witnessing numerous enthusiastic young swimmers pushing their boundaries was truly uplifting. The event also saw the participation of international visitors from Australia who are warmly welcomed . The swimmers received their medals with immense enthusiasm, and accolades are extended to JR White Co Ltd for their generous support .The unwavering support from parents and families is truly commendable.

Swimming is a demanding sport, and a salute is deserved by our dedicated swimmers who commit to rigorous training routines both morning and evening. The Nationals serve as a platform for these athletes to exhibit their skills and forge camaraderie in the spirit of competition.

Today, the Nationals advance to the final day, with swimmers participating in the remainder of the 42 events.
